Banks & Trust Companies

As of December 31, 2007, there were 291 banks and 9 nondeposit trust companies regulated by the Missouri Division of Finance.

Missouri ranks 6th in the nation in the number of state-chartered banks and 7th in the number of total banks (with 331 as of December 31, 2007).  Assets in Missouri state-chartered banks totaled $69.8 billion on December 31, 2007 .

The 9 nondeposit trust companies held a combined total of nearly $14 billion in trust assets as of year end 2007.

Federally chartered (national) banks are regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and are identified by "national", "N.A.", or "national association" appearing in their titles.
